National Grid & UK Power Networks substation plans.
Dear Resident,
We wanted to inform you of the National Grid and UK Power Networks plans to apply for planning permission to build 2 new substations near Little Horsted (see map below for site location). The proposed substation development will also involve the construction of two new pylons (with the removal of the existing pylon) and cover a 26 acre site which is considerably larger than anticipated. The work carried out on Bradfords / Harveys lane in 2018/2019 on behalf of UK Power Networks was to allow for the removal of 72 pylons in the area (including 10 within the South Downs National Park). There will be a link up with the new substation and the infrastructure under Bradfords lane.
Plans for the substation development itself are still at an early stage and they will be contacting you directly however we would like to keep you informed as the project progresses. Please email Laura (littlehorstedparish@gmail.com) so that we can add you to our contact list or feel free to ask any questions and we will be happy to help.
The current schedule is to submit the planning application to Wealden District Council in October 2020 with the projected completion of the work in 2022 – with full operation in 2023.
